Eight border provinces of the three countries along Road 8B, namely Bolikhamsay and Khammouane provinces of Laos, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces of Vietnam and Noong Khai, Xacon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom provinces of Thailand, will build their traditional houses, clubs, parks and exhibitions halls in the 197ha village.

The village, which is being built under the agreement reached between the three countries in 2006, will depict the three countries’ housing architectures.

Diaz made the statement at the end of the 11th Fun Cup Windsurfing Competition which concluded successfully in the province on January 30.

According to him, Binh Thuan can host the world event thanks to its ideal climate among other conditions and the fast development of the sport in Vietnam.

The 11th Fun Cup Windsurfing Competition drew the participation of 45 windsurfers from 13 countries including Vietnam, France, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Russia and Germany.

Besides amateurs, this is the first time professional windsurfers including the world leading ones participated in the competition.

Pascal Lefebvre, manager of the Jibe’s Beach Club which organises the annual competition, said that the event aimed to create a playing field for tourists.

The flights on the new route will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new route aims to promote trade and tourism between Viet Nam and Laos.

Champasak province’s chief Sonxay Siphandon said that Champasak province needs support from industries in HCM City, including the agriculture, health care and telecommunications sectors.

Le Thanh Hai, the Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee, said that the new route would help develop relations between the two countries. The first Pakse-HCM City flight route was discontinued in 2003.
